Blue Coat School Swimming Pool Enclosure

The Reading Blue Coat School recently completed their 20 metre pool refurbishment with a specially designed Algarve Olympia Pool Enclosure and the school now plan to use their pool all year rather than just a few summer months.

We provided extra large sliding doors in the construction of the pool enclosure at The Blue Coat School together with no bottom rail on one door to allow for wheel chair access. Planning permission is required when it's a commercial application so drawings were produced in house to submit to the planning office to aquire the planning permission. All calculations were provided to satisfy building control on the strength of the enclosure, the overall length of the building was 32m and the enclosure had to be delivered unassembled because of tight access, therefore completion took 3 weeks from delivery. Now the school are able to use their pool all year around, in warmer weather they are able to open the enclosure up from the centre and it makes it much easier for spectators for bigger events like swimming galas and sports days.

Before the installation of the Blue Coat School enclosure we also laid a rubber chip flooring which has become quite popular with domestic and commercial pool surrounds. It not only gives good drainage but it is soft on the feet and won't graze knees like traditional paving. The picture shows the blue surround used on the Blue Coat poolside. We can organise this for any customer but it needs to be completed at least one week before installation of the enclosure to give the surround time to harden and there is a huge range of colours to choose from and you can even choose two or three different colours to compliment the pool room. The surround is ideal for indoor pool surrounds and exterior pools.

Although the Blue Coat enclosure did not have internal changing cubicles these can also be provided, along with the option of frosted glass for privacy as we did on another school pool in Wiltshire . Our enclosures can also be used for non swimming pool uses such as these tea rooms in the IOW!
